DYNAMOS 3 WHITLEY WARRIORS 10 SUNDAY, 8th OCTOBER 1972.

Report by Bernard Stocks for the Ice Hockey Herald No 41 -21 October1972
The plucky Dynamos were just no match for a WarrIors' sIde whIch, despite the absence of Emmonds, Hudson and Vail, still looked all powerful. In truth this was an impressive display by the Autumn Cup holders. From Gilbert out they looked solid and confident with the forwards in paticulrr able to vary their approach at will and finding countless ways of breaching the home defence.
Cassidy opened the scorlng for the visitors and J. Pearson put them further ahead shortly afterwards. Hester pulled one back for Glasgow to end the fIrst period scorIng. Early in the second period the Dynamos drew level, Hester and Barratt setting up the play for a neat goal by W.Lavety. The home crew were gettIng plenty of encouragement from an enthusiastic crowd, but thIs was the last occasion on which they were in the match wIth a chance. Warriors moved in and took command, wIth goals by T. Matthews (2,), G. Pearson and H. Pearson.
The third period was pretty well one way traffic as McKay handled four times the action that Gilbert saw at the other end. Glasgow.did squeeze in another W. Lavety goal which they rIchly deserved for
the way in which they stuck gamily to their task, but Warriors added four more to bring theIr total to double figures. On thIs form it is goIng to take a really good team to wrest that cup from its present home. . B.S.
