Fife Flyers 8
Dynamos 8 14 Mar 70 Skol Cup
Report by Bernard Stocks – IceHockey Herald
No13 – April 1970
Flyers maintained their recent
improved form with a good win over Dynamos in this second preliminary Skol Cup match. Joe McIntosh coached from the bench
and H Taylor was a Kirkcaldy absentee. The Glasgow side were without Ballantyne and Nelson , Smith (Dundee) deputising in
the nets.
Flyers took an early lead through Hunter but
a goal apiece from the Stevenson brothers and W Lavety gave Dynamos a three one margin at the end of the opening period. In
the first four minutes of the second period – a real ding dong affair as both sids struggled for supremacy – R
Stevenson put them further ahead, Petrie pulled one back and W Lavety fired in a good one. Then two quick goals put Flyers
right back in the game, Hunter and john Taylor being the marksmen. However R Stevenson made it 6-4 before the end of the period.
The last lap was all Flyers.
Inspired by brown, the fife forwards looked really dangerous as they swarmed round Smith. John Taylor reduced the margin,
hunter equalised, and then John Taylor again and Petrie made the tie safe for the home lot.
