With Anderson on honeymoon and Callaghan unavailable, Jimmy Hall dons the goalies gear, and settles down
after a hectic first period. His namesake, Ricky, in the Blackpool goal is seriously injured after being knocked over along
with the goal. A truly frightening incident in which he was reported to have died and was saved by the first aid lady who
administered heart massage - no praise is higher enough for her efforts and skill, without which this would have been
British Ice Hockey's most tragic night , ever.
Report from Ice Hockey News Review 19th April 1986
Ricky Hall suffered a frightening and almost fatal injurr striking his hey in the away match at Glasgow.
Hall stopped breathing after striking his head on the goal piping in a goalmouth scuffle, and only heart massage by the first
aid attendant saved his life. He was taken to hospital but discharged himself to return home in the team coach. However
he collapse again just 60 miles into the homeward journey and was rushed to a Lanarkshire hospital. Team mate Dave Anthony
stayed with him till his parents arrived the next day.
It was later reported that he had "died" twice as a result of his injuries.
"He is lucky to be alive" commented his father, Barry Hall, with some understatement.
