The Evening Times of 1st December 1966 had the following article about him
"Ian Nelson, goalkeeper of Glacier Metals in the Glasgow Amateur League has turned goaltender to ice hockey team
Crossmyloof Dynamos, writes ALEC BAXTER.
Ian was rapidly coming to the forefront with the Glaciers, and looks like doing likewise at Titwood Road
"Last season" a rink official told me, "Ian really pestered the team manager far a trial as a goaltender. In an emergency
this season he was given his chance and his brilliant form amazed us"
Ian doesn't want to fall between the two sports and so soccer has lost a personality"
