Fife Flyers 3 Dynamos 2 Skol Cup Qualifier
It was not until the last fifteen minutes that this SkolCup tie livened up and gave the spectators something to shout
about. Both sides seemed shot-shy in the early stages, and the result was a scoreless first period. Hester was the one forward
on the ice who, seemed to know the direction of the goal, and, it was fitting that he should open the scoring early in the
second period. Within twenty seconds Flyers were level, Horne firing home from the blue line after Crooks had slipped the
disc back from the corner. Again Hester left Reid no chance with a strong run and shot. Crombie missed an easy one with
only Laird to beat, but atoned with a similar chance a few minutes later, Dynamos still Iooked ,the likelier lot, but found
an in-form Reid a major stumbling block. The pace hotted up as both sides strove to take the lead, but Laird and Reid
were solid, and one knew that onlyan extra special effort would beat them. It finally came from the hard-working Boreham. It
was learned after the match that Joe McIntosh, who had retired at the beginning of the second period, had a badly chipped
elbow, and would be out for the remainder of the season. STAR RATINGS
+++ Reid ++ Hester + Boreham
