Dynamos 2 Murrayfield Racers 4 7 Dec 69 League
Report by Farquhar Matheson – IceHockey Herald

This match turned out to be more of an intriguing
rather than an exciting struggle with Racers having to pull out all the stops to win. Sensation in the first minute when Racers
who should have gone ahead – Lovell missing a great chance – found themselves one down to a B. Stevenson goal.
The Murrayfield men really piled on the pressure after that, but just could not score, even with Shields and Hester in the
sin-bin for tripping. Lovell crowned an unfortunate first period by making the nmost awful hash of a penalty shot.
The games turning point came
in the first minute of the second frame. Right from the face-off Carroll hit the post with Clark beaten, and within seconds
Reilly slapped in an equaliser. Shortly afterwards the same player put Racers ahead after a mix up in the dynamos defence. From then on Racers looked more composed and two fine goals from Inglis put them three
up. In the final ten minutes Dynamos pulled one back with Hay off for tripping but failed to beat a superb Willie Clark again.
Though hustled at times out
of their smooth style by dynamos endeavour and hard skating, Racers teamwork finally won the day. A word of praise is due
to Glasgow youngsters Shields, Hester and Churchill for showing up so well against the crack team of the league. One sour
note, the state of the ice did nothing to help stick handlers like Stevenson and Lovell, and slowed play in general.
